About Blemishes · Melasma

How does it work? What are the active ingredients?

Ascorbic acid and Retinyl Palmitate block the production of melanin. It blocks tyrosinase from causing an enzyme reaction. Existing pigment is removed by sloughing off Keratinocytes or epidermal cells – as it constantly renews itself.

What does the treatment involve?

Marion Brown Aesthetics recommends Phyto + from our skin product range, Skin Ceuticals and a 'medium' skin peel, such as SkinMedica. It is essential that you must bring along a letter from your doctor to confirm that you have Melasma.

Will the marks completely disappear?

99 percent of clients see a 95% improvement in pigmentation. You must keep the treatments up, otherwise the production of melanin can resume in the interim.

Will it get rid of my freckles?

No, it does not affect freckles. It does not work on tea stain birthmarks. It includes Melasma, post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation and lentigo.

Can it be used to lighten dark or olive skin?

It does not bleach the skin. It will remove or decrease pigmentation problems. A tan can be removed or lightened

What about the aftercare?

Just use cold water and regular moisturiser. Sun protection should be worn every day with this product. Results are permanent as long as the aftercare cream is used. Avoid sun exposure, as it will stimulate melanin production again.
